Freyja, the newest member of our family, comes from a long line of champions. We got her 2 years ago, in September 2005, when she was just 9 weeks old. We're putting her through a complete schedule of training courses, so we can better communicate with her and enjoy our outings together. However, we think we would also like to show her. Even though we've only had her in one show and several classes so far, she seems to be enjoying her experiences so much that we think showing her would be yet another great way of interacting and bonding with her.
Training Freyja has presented some challenges, but is also providing many rewards. Her spirited personality made it difficult, at first, to get her to settle down and concentrate on training, but now she looks forward to going to school. She's currently training in obedience, rally and agility.
With Freyja, we meet a lot of people--partly because of her unusual color, and also because she's always been a big girl. She loves playing with other dogs and puppies, and we regularly take her to several city parks to let her play and meet other dogs and people. She also lives with three other critters at home; a middle-aged toy poodle and two cats. Between them and the ponies, goats, sheep and cows she gets to interact with when we go out to the farm, Freyja gets plenty of chances to socialize, and so will her offspring.
